Privacy Policy
Overview
Bridge Connect is a private platform for BridgeUSA chapters — bipartisan student organizations at universities. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account you agree to these terms.
We collect only what's needed to run the platform. We do not sell your data.
Data we collect
When you sign up, we collect your email address (used for login and platform notifications). Your email is never shown to other users.
During onboarding you provide your full name, username, optional bio, university chapter, position tags (roles within your chapter), and an optional political perspective indicator (“stance”).
Your stance is visible only to members of your own chapter. It is never shown to other chapters or displayed publicly.
Forum posts, forum comments, chat messages, bulletin posts, idea submissions, and event RSVPs are stored and visible to other platform members as described below.
We record action timestamps (e.g., when a post was created or a member was approved) to maintain audit logs and platform integrity. We do not use third-party analytics trackers on the Connect platform.
How we use your data
- To authenticate you and operate your account
- To display your profile to authorized chapter members
- To connect you with your chapter's workspace (forum, chat, events)
- To automatically place you in the correct chat channels based on your position tags
- To notify chapter leaders when a new member requests to join their chapter
- To send platform-related email notifications (membership approvals, bulletins)
- To maintain audit logs for chapter governance and platform safety

Data storage and security
All data is stored in Supabase (supabase.com), a managed database and authentication service. Supabase stores data in the United States and is subject to its own privacy policy.
Access to the platform is controlled by Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) policies, which enforce the visibility rules described above at the database level. Passwords are never stored in plain text — authentication is managed by Supabase Auth.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you would like to delete your account and all associated personal data, email uriah.chumpitaz@gmail.com with the subject line “Delete my account.” We will process the request within 30 days.
Content you have posted (forum posts, chat messages) may be anonymized rather than deleted in order to preserve the integrity of conversations.
FERPA notice
Bridge Connect is operated independently and is not affiliated with or operated by any university. We do not receive or share educational records with universities. However, information you choose to enter (e.g., your university affiliation) is visible to other platform members per the table above.
Children
Bridge Connect is intended for university students (age 18 and over). We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify active members via the platform bulletin board. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
